Our dental laboratory in Coffs Harbour
We make crowns, bridges, veneers and implant restorations in our own lab at our Coffs Harbour practice. Dentures, and a few materials we don’t work with here, are made by our Australian partner labs.
WHY WE HAVE A LAB
Why we built our own lab
We built our lab because we love this part of dentistry: designing a restoration precisely, then making it ourselves from the material that suits each tooth.
Owning the whole process changes how the work is done:
- Problems are solved with your dentist. If there’s too little room for the material, or a shade doesn’t sit right, it’s worked out with the dentist treating you before the restoration is finished.
- Adjustments happen here. If something needs changing at the fit, it goes back to our lab, not into the post.
HOW IT’S MADE
How your restoration is made
- 01
Scan
A digital scan records your teeth and bite. No impression trays.
- 02
Design
We design the restoration on screen around your bite and the teeth either side, then 3D print a model of your teeth to check the fit by hand.
- 03
Mill
A five-axis milling machine cuts the restoration from a solid block of material. Five axes let it reach the shape from every angle, so it can cut fine detail and complex forms such as custom implant abutments.
- 04
Finish
Each restoration is glazed by hand, with its own colour characterisation to suit your natural teeth.
We also 3D print surgical guides for implant placement, and splints.
MATERIALS
What we make, and from what
- Zirconia
- Crowns, bridges and implant crowns. Very strong, and high-translucency zirconia looks natural at the front too.
- Lithium disilicate
- Crowns and veneers where appearance matters most. Its translucency is close to natural enamel.
- Hybrid ceramic (milled composite)
- Veneers and onlays.
- Titanium
- Custom implant abutments, the part that connects the implant to the crown.
- PMMA
- Temporary crowns, and trial smiles so you can try a new shape before the final work.
